       Introduced  by Sen. GALLIVAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation -- reported
         favorably from said committee, ordered to  first  and  second  report,
         ordered  to  a  third  reading,  passed by Senate and delivered to the
         Assembly, recalled, vote  reconsidered,  restored  to  third  reading,
         amended  and  ordered  reprinted,  retaining its place in the order of
         third reading
       AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to  designating  a  certain
         portion of state route 20A the "Wyoming County Veterans Memorial High-
         way"
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section  342-xxx
    2  to read as follows:
    3    S  342-XXX.  PORTION  OF  STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE
    4  "WYOMING COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". THAT PORTION OF STATE  ROUTE
    5  20A  LOCATED  WITHIN  THE  BOUNDARIES  OF THE COUNTY OF WYOMING FROM THE
    6  INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 98 TO THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 246, A
    7  DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY SIXTEEN AND ONE-TENTH MILES, SHALL  BE  DESIG-
    8  NATED AND KNOWN AS THE "WYOMING COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY".
    9    S  2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
   10  lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state  highway  system
   11  as  designated  pursuant  to  section one of this act. However, to avoid
   12  confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce,  the  desig-
   13  nation  called  for  pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of
   14  ceremonial nature and the official name of such  highway  shall  not  be
   15  changed as a result of this act.
   16    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
