       Introduced  by Sen. FLANAGAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government
       AN ACT in relation to extending the deadline by which an eligible  muni-
         cipality  may  exercise the provisions of the Superstorm Sandy assess-
         ment relief act
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1. Notwithstanding any provision of this chapter or any other
    2  law to the contrary, the town of Smithtown may exercise  the  provisions
    3  of  the  superstorm sandy assessment relief act if its town board shall,
    4  by the three hundred sixty-fifth day  following  October  twenty-second,
    5  two  thousand thirteen, pass a local law adopting the provisions of this
    6  act.  The town of Smithtown may provide assessment relief for real prop-
    7  erty impacted by Superstorm Sandy located within the town  of  Smithtown
    8  as  provided  in  paragraphs (i), (ii), (iii) and/or (iv) of subdivision
    9  (a) of section four of the superstorm sandy assessment relief  act  only
   10  if its town board specifically elects to do so as part of such local law
   11  or resolution.
   12    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
