       Introduced  by Sen. GRISANTI -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Agriculture
       AN ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation  to  penal-
         ties for dog stealing
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The section heading and the closing  paragraph  of  section
    2  366 of the agriculture and markets law, as amended by chapter 176 of the
    3  laws of 1970, are amended to read as follows:
    4    [Dog stealing] STEALING OF DOMESTICATED ANIMALS.
    5    Any  person  violating  any  of  the  provisions of this section, upon
    6  conviction thereof, shall be punished  by  a  fine  not  exceeding  [two
    7  hundred]  ONE  THOUSAND  dollars,  or  by imprisonment not to exceed six
    8  months, or by both.
    9    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
