STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7753 IN SENATE May 12, 2016 ___________ Introduced by Sen. BONACIC -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Racing, Gaming and Wager- ing AN ACT to amend the racing, pari-mutuel wagering and breeding law, in relation to New York bred harness races The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 307-a of the racing, pari-mutuel wagering and 2 breeding law, as added by chapter 258 of the laws of 2014, is amended to 3 read as follows: 4 § 307-a. New York bred harness races. Any association or corporation 5 licensed to conduct harness race meetings at which pari-mutuel betting 6 is permitted may, if in its sole discretion such association or corpo- 7 ration determines[,] that it would be beneficial [to], run races which 8 are limited to New York bred and/or wholly owned horses. These races 9 may be written on such terms and conditions as any other race authorized 10 pursuant to law or regulation [of the board] of the gaming commission, 11 notwithstanding any preference date requirements. If in the opinion of 12 the corporation or association sufficient competition cannot be had 13 among such restricted class of horses, said race may be eliminated for 14 said day and a substitute race provided instead. The [board] gaming 15 commission shall be authorized to promulgate regulations to effectuate 16 the intent of this section. 17 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
