STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8418 IN SENATE January 29, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. HARCKHAM -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Mental Health AN ACT to require the office of mental health to conduct a study on utilizing the therapeutic techniques studied by the research and recognition project for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disor- der The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. 1. The office of mental health shall conduct a study on 2 utilizing the therapeutic techniques studied by the research and recog- 3 nition project for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. 4 2. Any funding for the study shall be appropriated from the funds 5 received by New York state in the coronavirus aid, relief and economic 6 security act. 7 3. Within one year after the effective date of this act, the office of 8 mental health shall prepare and submit to the governor, the temporary 9 president of the senate, the speaker of the assembly, the minority lead- 10 er of the senate and the minority leader of the assembly a report 11 containing the study's findings and recommendations for legislative or 12 administrative action that can be undertaken in utilizing the therapeu- 13 tic techniques studied by the research and recognition project for the 14 treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. 15 § 2.
