STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9176 IN SENATE May 2, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. MARTINS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend chapter 19 of the laws of 2009, amending the vehicle and traffic law and other laws relating to adjudications and owner liabil- ity for a violation of traffic-control signal indications, in relation to extending the provisions of such chapter The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 10 of chapter 19 of the laws of 2009, amending the 2 vehicle and traffic law and other laws relating to adjudications and 3 owner liability for a violation of traffic-control signal indications, 4 as amended by section 3 of part TT of chapter 58 of the laws of 2019, is 5 amended to read as follows: 6 § 10. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall 7 have become a law; provided, however, that sections three, eight and 8 nine of this act shall expire December 1, [2024] 2029 when upon such 9 date the provisions of [this act] such sections shall be deemed 10 repealed; [provided that the amendments to paragraph a of subdivision115-a of section 401 of the vehicle and traffic law made by section one of12this act shall be subject to the expiration and reversion of such para-13graph pursuant to section 17 of chapter 746 of the laws of 1988, as14amended, when upon such date the provisions of section two of this act15shall take effect;] provided that the amendments to the opening para- 16 graph and paragraph (c) of subdivision 1 of section 1809 of the vehicle 17 and traffic law made by section four of this act shall be subject to the 18 expiration and reversion of such subdivision pursuant to chapter 166 of 19 the laws of 1991, as amended, when upon such date the provisions of 20 section five of this act shall take effect; provided, however, that the 21 amendments to the opening paragraph of subdivision 1 of section 1809 of 22 the vehicle and traffic law made by section five of this act shall not 23 affect the expiration of such subdivision and shall expire therewith; 24 provided, however, that the amendments to subdivision 2 of section 371 25 of the general municipal law made by section seven of this act shall not 26 affect the expiration of such section and shall be deemed to expire EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. This act shall take effect immediately.
