BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 4501.026 of the Revised Code be

enacted to read as follows:

Sec. 4501.026. The registrar of motor vehicles or a deputy
| 9 |
registrar shall ask an individual with whom the registrar or
| 10 |
deputy registrar conducts a motor vehicle or driver's license
| 11 |
transaction if the individual is a veteran. If the individual
| 12 |
claims to be a veteran, the registrar or deputy registrar shall
| 13 |
ask permission from the individual to send the individual's name,
| 14 |
veteran status, address, telephone number, and e-mail address to | 15 |
the director of veterans services in
order for the director to | 16 |
seek out veterans benefits and services
for that individual and | 17 |
for the state. If the individual agrees to
have the information | 18 |
sent to the director of veterans services,
the registrar or | 19 |
deputy registrar shall so send the information. | 20 |
