BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 3345.43 of the Revised Code be | 5 |
enacted to read as follows: | 6 |
Sec. 3345.43. (A) Each state institution of higher | 7 |
education, as defined in section 3345.011 of the Revised Code, | 8 |
shall adopt a policy regarding incidents of dating violence and | 9 |
rape on campus. The policy shall include the procedure for | 10 |
reporting such incidents and the institutional plan for | 11 |
investigating and responding to such incidents. The policy also | 12 |
shall describe the consequences for committing an incident of | 13 |
dating violence or rape on campus, including the institutional | 14 |
disciplinary proceedings, the referral of the case for | 15 |
prosecution, and the possible penalties that may be imposed. | 16 |
(B) Each state institution of higher education annually shall | 17 |
provide a copy of the policy adopted pursuant to division (A) of | 18 |
this section to each student enrolled in that institution. Upon | 19 |
receipt, each student shall sign an acknowledgement of receipt of | 20 |
a copy of the policy. | 21 |
Section 2. This act shall be known as the "Respect Your Date | 22 |
Act." | 23 |
