To enact section 5.2266 of the Revised Code to | 1 |
designate October 13 as Metastatic Breast Cancer | 2 |
Awareness Day. | 3 |
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 5.2266 of the Revised Code be enacted | 4 |
to read as follows: | 5 |
Sec. 5.2266. The thirteenth day of October is designated as | 6 |
"Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day" to raise public awareness | 7 |
and understanding of breast cancer that has spread through the | 8 |
bloodstream to other parts of the body. | 9 |
Section 2. In declaring October 13 "Metastatic Breast Cancer | 10 |
Awareness Day," the General Assembly recognizes that breast cancer | 11 |
remains the second leading cause of cancer deaths among American | 12 |
women and that the risk of breast cancer may be reduced through | 13 |
healthy lifestyle choices. The General Assembly considers public | 14 |
awareness of this devastating disease to be vitally important to | 15 |
increase early detection and reduce the loss of life to metastatic | 16 |
breast cancer. Further, the General Assembly commends the efforts | 17 |
of Ohio's scientists and health professionals in developing new | 18 |
technologies and treatments for metastatic breast cancer and | 19 |
encourages them to continue these efforts and their search for a | 20 |
cure for this aggressive disease. | 21 |
