| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to designate May 2014 as National Hamburger Month in Ohio; and |
| WHEREAS, This is, indeed, an important occasion, and it provides an ideal time to acknowledge the hamburger, which is a cooked patty, usually made from ground meat, generally beef but may also be made from salmon, turkey, or Portobello mushrooms. Originating in Hamburg, Germany, the burger in a bun is an American innovation most likely commencing in Seymour, Wisconsin, and its impressive versatility, able to be topped with numerous trimmings, including a bun, cheese, lettuce, and condiments, readily explains why it is so widely held in high esteem; and |
| WHEREAS, White Castle, established by Billy Ingram in 1921, is the oldest continuously operating hamburger chain in the country, and it is the first to set a record of one million and one billion burgers sold and to sell frozen fast food. This fine business has gained a loyal following of Cravers, earning the respect and admiration of many; and |
| WHEREAS, Founded by Dave Thomas in Columbus, Ohio, in 1969, Wendy's prepares fresh, made-to-order hamburgers, and today, it continues to follow Dave's motto, Quality is Our Recipe. We are certain that as this worthy enterprise maintains its dedication to service, it will continue to grow and prosper and will follow in the tradition of excellence that has long been its hallmark; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, designate May 2014 as National Hamburger Month in Ohio; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly authenticated copies of this Resolution to White Castle, Wendy's, and the news media of Ohio. |
