WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Caroline Scott Harrison Memorial Sculpture Committee on the occasion of Caroline Scott Harrison Day, October 5, 2014; and |
WHEREAS, Since its founding in 2013, the Caroline Scott Harrison Memorial Sculpture Committee has certainly brought recognition to Caroline Scott Harrison, who was born in Oxford, Ohio, and educated at the Oxford Female Institute. An ad hoc committee of the Oxford Community Arts Center, the group is dedicated to promoting Mrs. Harrison, who was the wife of the 23rd president of the United States of America, an accomplished artist, and the first president general of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and her connection to Oxford, as well as that of her husband, Benjamin Harrison, who was a 1852 graduate of Miami University, and it is deserving of the highest praise; and |
WHEREAS, All those associated with this exceptional organization are to be applauded for their foresight, dedication, and selfless contributions of time, energy, and ability far beyond what was required or expected. These fine people have earned the respect and admiration of many and have set an example of concerned and responsible citizenship worthy of emulation; and |
WHEREAS, Engaged in an array of worthwhile activities and projects that recognize Caroline Scott Harrison's contributions to the Oxford area, the members of the Caroline Scott Harrison Memorial Sculpture Committee have met a number of needs, and their numerous charitable acts readily explain why they are so widely held in high esteem. We are certain that as they maintain their commitment to service, they will continue in the tradition of excellence that has been their hallmark; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Caroline Scott Harrison Memorial Sculpture Committee during the 2014 Caroline Scott Harrison Day and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Caroline Scott Harrison Memorial Sculpture Committee. |
