                             SUMMARY

The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the

brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.

  Prohibits discrimination or retaliation against employee who
expresses concerns about wage inequity based on sex. Requires
Commissioner of Bureau of Labor and Industries to enforce
prohibition in same manner as other unlawful employment
practices.

                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to wage inequity.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + Section 2 of this 2013 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS chapter 659A. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + (1) It is an unlawful employment practice for
an employer to discharge, discipline or take other retaliatory
action against an employee because the employee has expressed
concerns about wage inequity based on sex.
  (2) Complaints alleging a violation of subsection (1) of this
section may be filed with the Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor
and Industries in the manner provided by ORS 659A.820. The
commissioner shall enforce this section in the manner provided in
this chapter regarding other unlawful employment practices.
  (3) Violation of subsection (1) of this section subjects the
violator to the same civil remedies and penalties as provided in
this chapter. + }
