| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Designating State Route 35 from Selinsgrove to the Snyder County |
2 | line near Richfield as the Pfc. Justin W. Dreese Memorial |
3 | Highway. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Pfc. Justin W. Dreese Memorial Highway. |
7 | (a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as |
8 | follows: |
9 | (1) Pfc. Justin W. Dreese, a 21-year-old from Freeburg, |
10 | Snyder County, died September 2, 2006, from injuries suffered |
11 | in a mortar attack while serving in Iraq as a member of the |
12 | 82nd Airborne Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom. |
13 | (2) Pfc. Dreese was a 2004 graduate of Selinsgrove High |
14 | School. He was deployed to Iraq in July 2006 as a paratrooper |
15 | in the 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd |
16 | Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort |
17 | Bragg, North Carolina. |
18 | (3) Pfc. Dreese's patrol come under attack in Yusifiyah, |
19 | Iraq. Also killed in the combat was Sgt. Ralph N. Porras. |

1 | (4) Pfc. Dreese was posthumously awarded the Purple |
2 | Heart. |
3 | (b) Designation.--State Route 35 from Selinsgrove to the |
4 | Snyder County line near Richfield is hereby designated as the |
5 | Pfc. Justin W. Dreese Memorial Highway. |
6 | (c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and |
7 | maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway |
8 | designated under subsection (b) to traffic in both directions. |
9 | Section 2. Effective date. |
10 | This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
