AN ACT

  

1

Designating March 19 of each year as "Pennsylvania Military

2

Heroes Day."

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

4

hereby enacts as follows:

5

Section 1.  March 19 designation.

6

March 19 of each year shall be known as "Pennsylvania

7

Military Heroes Day."

8

Section 2.  Purpose.

9

This day shall be set apart as a day of gratitude to and

10

profound respect for all the men and women in our armed forces

11

who have served and continue to serve in Iraq. This day shall

12

affirm that these heroes exhibited immense bravery and courage

for accepting the challenges and hardships that have come with

2

fighting the war in the Middle East.

Section 3.  Observance of day.

4

This day shall be observed by citizens and political

5

subdivisions by:

6

(1)  Devoting some part of the day to the recognition of

7

our armed forces and acknowledge their contributions,

8

professionalism and sacrifices to keep our country safe.

9

(2)  Observing a moment of silence in recognition of

10

March 19, 2003, when the United States declared war on Iraq

11

and remembering all of the brave soldiers that gave the

12

ultimate sacrifice for our country since the war began.

13

Section 4.  Effective date.

14

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
