AN ACT

Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania

Consolidated Statutes, defining the offense of interference

3

with police officers.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated

7

Statutes is amended by adding a section to read

8

§ 5104.2.  Interference with police officers.

(a)  Offense defined.--Notwithstanding any other provision of

10

law, a person who intentionally or knowingly interferes with a

11

police officer, with the knowledge that the individual is a

12

police officer, in the performance of his duties commits a

13

summary offense.

(b)  Definition.--As used in this section, the term "police

15

officer" means any of the following:

16

(1)  A member of the Pennsylvania State Police.

17

(2)  A police officer as defined in 53 Pa.C.S. § 2162

18

(relating to definitions).

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
