AN ACT

Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the

2

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for

3

compensation of witnesses.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  Section 5903(b) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania

7

Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8

§ 5903.  Compensation and expenses of witnesses.

(b)  Compensation.--Every witness, except a salaried police

11

officer attending a coroner's inquest during working hours,

12

shall be paid at the rate of [$5] $40 per day during the

13

necessary period of attendance. [A witness under the act of

14

March 30, 1937 (P.L.115, No.40), known as "The First Class City

15

Permanent Registration Act" shall be paid at the rate of $20 per

16

day.]

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
