A RESOLUTION
Honoring and commending the 2011 Northern (York County) High
School baseball team for winning the 2011 Pennsylvania
Interscholastic Athletic Association Class AAA State Baseball
Championship on June 17, 2011, in State College.
WHEREAS, With well-balanced offensive and defensive play, the
Northern High School Polar Bears defeated the Tunkhannock High
School Tigers on June 17, 2011, to win the 2011 Pennsylvania
Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AAA State
Baseball Championship in State College; and
WHEREAS, The Tigers took an early lead which evaporated in
the fourth inning on a grand slam by Polar Bear Joe Tuschak; and
WHEREAS, Stellar pitching by Vince Apicella, fielding by the
infield and outfield, hitting and coaching attained Northern's
first State baseball championship and ended its outstanding 2011
season with 23 wins and five losses; and
WHEREAS, A PIAA District 3 team, Northern High School is
located in Dillsburg and enrolls students throughout Northern
York County; and
WHEREAS, Team members of the 2011 State baseball championship

team are Dominic Apicella, Vince Apicella, Tyler Betz, Ricky
Bisch, Justin Charles, Nate Deardorff, Andrew Keirn, Elijah
Locke, Isaiah Locke, Jon Mayer, Cody McLaughlin, Jordan Miller,
Anthony Salomone, Travis Saylor, Rusty Simmoneau, Mark Stetts,
Dylan Tamecki and Joe Tuschak; and
WHEREAS, The members of the team's outstanding coaching staff
are Head Coach Brian Robison and Assistant Coaches Drew Jacobs,
Jim Shultz and Craig Warner; and
WHEREAS, The achievements of this team are superlative on and
off the baseball diamond; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor and commend
the 2011 Northern (York County) High School baseball team for
winning the 2011 PIAA Class AAA State Baseball Championship on
June 17, 2011, in State College.
