| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Honoring Cassie James Holdsworth, the Director of National |
2 | Advocacy and Policy for Liberty Resources, Inc., for her |
3 | service to the disabled community, for her tireless advocacy |
4 | for the rights of persons with disabilities and for her |
5 | strength in overcoming the obstacles and challenges of her |
6 | disabilities while fulfilling her duties as an American |
7 | citizen by exercising her First Amendment rights. |
8 | WHEREAS, Cassie James Holdsworth has overcome disabilities |
9 | and challenges to serve the disabled community and fulfill her |
10 | duties as an American citizen by exercising her First Amendment |
11 | right to peacefully demonstrate and speak out on behalf of the |
12 | estimated 1.7 million Pennsylvanians living with a disability; |
13 | and |
14 | WHEREAS, Cassie James Holdsworth devotes countless hours to |
15 | ensuring the rights of the disabled and their equal access to |
16 | all aspects of life in our community through her service as |
17 | Director of National Advocacy and Policy for Liberty Resources, |
18 | Inc., the Philadelphia Center for Independent Living; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Cassie James Holdsworth provides fearless leadership |

1 | to carrying out the mission of Liberty Resources, Inc., which |
2 | advocates and promotes independent living for persons with |
3 | disabilities; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Cassie James Holdsworth tirelessly serves as |
5 | spokeswoman for ADAPT, and recently traveled to Washington, DC, |
6 | to discuss Medicaid reform with the United States Senate, and |
7 | advocate for important public funding for state programs that |
8 | pay for community-based support, without which the ability of |
9 | persons with disabilities to live independently would be |
10 | impeded; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Cassie James Holdsworth dedicates her time to |
12 | serving the Disabled in Action of Pennsylvania, Inc., whose |
13 | mission states: |
14 | "We have a Dream that one day we will not be locked up in |
15 | institutions and we will have a real choice to live in our |
16 | own homes versus institutions. We want to be seen as human |
17 | beings with equal voice, not as objects of pity or disgust or |
18 | as inspirational. We want full accessibility to society; to |
19 | live in the community, ride transportation, live in |
20 | integrated housing, employment, integrated education and |
21 | family life." |
22 | ; and |
23 | WHEREAS, Cassie James Holdsworth consults with all levels of |
24 | government and industry to guarantee that people with |
25 | disabilities are treated fairly and have every opportunity to |
26 | achieve productive lives; and |
27 | WHEREAS, Cassie James Holdsworth works as a promoter for all |
28 | people living with disabilities and is particularly involved in |
29 | encouraging advocates who themselves have a variety of |
30 | disabilities; therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor Cassie |
2 | James Holdsworth in recognition of her activities to increase |
3 | awareness of people with disabilities and the rights and needs |
4 | of Pennsylvanians who have disabilities; and be it further |
5 | RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to |
6 | Cassie James Holdsworth, 714 Market Street, Suite 100, |
