| A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Committing the General Assembly to withholding funding for The |
2 | Pennsylvania State University until completion of the |
3 | investigation involving the university and its football |
4 | program. |
5 | WHEREAS, In November 2011, as a result of a grand jury |
6 | presentment and testimony before that grand jury, a scandal |
7 | erupted concerning sexual abuse of children and the involvement |
8 | in that abuse of The Pennsylvania State University, its football |
9 | program and its overall leadership; and |
10 | WHEREAS, This scandal has brought national focus on this |
11 | Commonwealth and the university; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Further investigation is necessary to understand the |
13 | full implications of the problem, the number of victims, the |
14 | nature of injuries and the type and degree of culpability; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Until this investigation is completed, it is |
16 | improper for the General Assembly to continue funding the |
17 | university; therefore be it |
18 | RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly |
19 | commit to withholding funding of The Pennsylvania State |

1 | University until it is satisfied concerning the full |
2 | implications of the sexual abuse of children and the involvement |
3 | in that abuse of the university, its football program and its |
4 | overall leadership, including the number of victims, the nature |
5 | of injuries and the type and degree of culpability. |
