AN ACT

Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania

2

Consolidated Statutes, in falsification and intimidation,

3

further providing for the offense of false reports to law

4

enforcement authorities.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

6

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 4906(c) of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania

8

Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding paragraphs to read:

9

§ 4906.  False reports to law enforcement authorities.

(c)  Grading.--

(3)  If the violation of subsection (a) or (b) relates to

14

a false report of kidnapping, as defined in section 2901

15

(relating to kidnapping), the offense shall be granted one

16

step greater than that set forth in the applicable

17

subsection.

(4)  A person who files a false police report commits a

19

summary offense and shall be sentenced to pay a fine not to

exceed $1,000 to include the costs of the manpower used to

2

process the report. For a second or subsequent offense, a

3

fine in the amount of $2,500 shall be imposed.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
