| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Requiring the provision of a child's birth certificate, which |
2 | shows the names and Social Security numbers of the child's |
3 | father and mother, to receive benefits. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Short title. |
7 | This act shall be known and may be cited as the Benefits |
8 | Information Requirement Act. |
9 | Section 2. Definitions. |
10 | The following words and phrases when used in this act shall |
11 | have the meanings given to them in this section unless the |
12 | context clearly indicates otherwise: |
13 | "Cash benefits." Cash benefits offered under the act of June |
14 | 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known as the Public Welfare Code, or |
15 | any other act. |
16 | "Child." Any resident of this Commonwealth under 18 years of |
17 | age. |
18 | "State program." A State program offering cash benefits or |

1 | medical assistance. |
2 | "Medical assistance." The State program of medical |
3 | assistance established under the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, |
4 | No.21), known as the Public Welfare Code. |
5 | Section 3. Information required. |
6 | No child or mother of a child, when applying for or receiving |
7 | benefits concerning the child, shall be eligible for benefits |
8 | from a State program unless the mother of the child provides to |
9 | the department administering the benefits a copy of the child's |
10 | birth certificate that shows the names and Social Security |
11 | numbers of the child's father and mother. |
12 | Section 10. Effective date. |
13 | This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
