| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Designating the bridge that carries State Route 601 over Barclay |
2 | Run in the Borough of Somerset, Somerset County, as the |
3 | Trooper Stephen R. Gyurke Memorial Bridge. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Trooper Stephen R. Gyurke Memorial Bridge. |
7 | (a) Declaration.--The General Assembly declares that Trooper |
8 | Stephen R. Gyurke made the ultimate sacrifice for this |
9 | Commonwealth on August 24, 1958, when he died of injuries |
10 | suffered while performing his duties. Trooper Gyurke was |
11 | assigned to the Pennsylvania State Police Troop B-2 when on |
12 | August 21, 1958, he suffered severe injuries that would |
13 | eventually lead to his death during a traffic stop on the |
14 | Pennsylvania Turnpike in Westmoreland County. |
15 | (b) Designation.--The bridge that carries State Route 601 |
16 | over Barclay Run in the Borough of Somerset, Somerset County, is |
17 | designated as the Trooper Stephen R. Gyurke Memorial Bridge. |
18 | (c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall place and |
19 | maintain appropriate signs at both ends of the bridge designated |

2 | Section 2. Effective date. |
3 | This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
