A RESOLUTION

Designating the month of May 2011 as "Law Month" in Pennsylvania

2

and urging lawmakers, lawyers, judges and schools to

3

participate.

4

WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Bar Association will launch its

5

12th annual "Law Day" program on May 11, 2011; and

6

WHEREAS, As part of the celebration, the Pennsylvania Bar

7

Association and local bar associations across this Commonwealth

8

will sponsor activities throughout the month of May; and

9

WHEREAS, The theme for 2011 is "Freedom Rocks!"; and

10

WHEREAS, The celebration is coordinated by the Law-Related

11

Education Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and

12

funded by the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation; and

13

WHEREAS, Schools, attorneys and judges will be encouraged to

14

work together to arrange for classroom visits as part of the

15

celebration; and

16

WHEREAS, The primary purpose of the celebration is to teach

17

children about their legal rights and responsibilities and to

share with them the essence of being an American citizen; and

2

WHEREAS, Students of all ages in kindergarten through college

3

will have the opportunity to explore the ways in which they can

4

have an impact on our world; therefore be it

5

RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of May 2011 as

6

"Law Month" in Pennsylvania; and be it further

7

RESOLVED, That the Senate urge all lawmakers, attorneys,

8

judges and schools to participate in this year's celebration.
