| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Recognizing the week of July 17 through 23, 2011, as "Probation, |
2 | Parole and Community Supervision Week" in Pennsylvania. |
3 | WHEREAS, Community corrections is an essential part of the |
4 | justice system; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals uphold the law |
6 | with dignity, while recognizing the right of the public to be |
7 | safeguarded from criminal activity; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals are responsible |
9 | for supervising adult and juvenile offenders in the community; |
10 | and |
11 | WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals are trained |
12 | professionals who provide services and referrals for offenders; |
13 | and |
14 | WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals work in |
15 | partnership with community agencies and groups; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals promote |
17 | prevention, intervention and advocacy; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals provide |
2 | services, support and protection for victims; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals advocate |
4 | community and restorative justice; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals are a true force |
6 | for positive change in their communities; therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the week of July 17 |
8 | through 23, 2011, as "Probation, Parole and Community |
9 | Supervision Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That all citizens be encouraged to honor community |
11 | corrections professionals and to recognize their achievements. |
