A RESOLUTION

Directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to study

the effects and any related savings in costs of reducing the

3

size of both the Senate and the House of Representatives by

4

25%.

WHEREAS, This nation and this Commonwealth have been facing

6

an economic downturn; therefore be it

7

RESOLVED, That the Senate direct the Legislative Budget and

8

Finance Committee to study the effects and any related savings

9

in costs of reducing the size of both the Senate and the House

10

of Representatives by 25%; and be it further

11

RESOLVED, That the study be based on the following:

12

(1)  District offices and staffing would remain the same.

13

(2)  The Harrisburg staff would be reduced through

14

attrition.

15

(3)  Each member shall be considered as rank and file

16

with 16 years of service;

17

and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee

issue a report of its findings and recommendations to the Senate

2

no later than August 1, 2010.
