| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Recognizing the holiday beginning with Rosh Hashanah and |
2 | concluding with Yom Kippur. |
3 | WHEREAS, Sundown on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, is the |
4 | beginning of the Jewish New Year, 5771; and |
5 | WHEREAS, The holiday will begin with Rosh Hashanah and will |
6 | conclude with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, on September 18, |
7 | 2010; and |
8 | WHEREAS, During this period of the High Holy Days, Jewish |
9 | residents of this Commonwealth will devote ten days to |
10 | repentance, asking God for forgiveness for their sins and |
11 | renewing their commitment to doing that which is right; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has a large and vibrant Jewish |
13 | community that has made outstanding contributions to the |
14 | Commonwealth; therefore be it |
15 | RESOLVED, That the Senate of Pennsylvania join with the |
16 | Jewish community in celebrating the sound of the Shofar, |
17 | proclaiming the New Year and wishing the Jewish community |
