A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of April 10 through 16, 2011, as the "Week
of the Young Child" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Many organizations throughout this Commonwealth, in
conjunction with the National Association for the Education of
Young Children, are celebrating the "Week of the Young Child"
from April 10 through 16, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The theme for 2011 is "Early Years are Learning
Years"; and
WHEREAS, These organizations are working to improve early
learning opportunities, which are crucial to growth and
development and to building better futures for all children; and
WHEREAS, Working families need child care and supportive
employer policies to be able to meet the needs of their young
children throughout the day; and
WHEREAS, Young children and their families in this
Commonwealth and nationwide deserve access to high-quality early
education and care; and

WHEREAS, In recognizing and supporting the people, programs
and policies committed to high-quality early childhood
education, we can all help to build better futures for all
children; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of April 10
through 16, 2011, as the "Week of the Young Child" in
Pennsylvania.
