Summary
A BILL TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 23-1-240 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS WITH APPROPRIATE JURISDICTION SHALL NOT CHARGE A CHARITABLE, RELIGIOUS, OR ELEEMOSYNARY ORGANIZATION CONDUCTING A RAFFLE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE ORGANIZATION WHERE ALL THE PROCEEDS INURE TO THE BENEFIT OF THE ORGANIZATION, AND ANY INDIVIDUALS ASSOCIATED WITH CONDUCTING THE RAFFLE, WITH A VIOLATION OF LAW BUT INSTEAD SHALL INFORM THEM IN WRITING THAT THE CONDUCT OF THE RAFFLE VIOLATES STATE LAW, AND TO PROVIDE FOR CERTAIN CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS FOR THIS PROVISION TO APPLY.

Provide That Law Enforcement Officials With Appropriate Jurisdiction Shall Not Charge A Charitable, Religious, Or Eleemosynary Organization Conducting A Raffle For The Benefit Of The Organization Where All The Proceeds Inure To The Benefit Of The Organization, And Any Individuals Associated With Conducting The Raffle, With A Violation Of Law But Instead Shall Inform Them In Writing That The Conduct Of The Raffle Violates State Law, And To Provide For Certain Conditions And Limitations For This Provision To Apply.
