A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR PHILLIP JERYL LEMMON, SR., OF WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, FOR TEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS MINISTER OF MUSIC AT ST. MICHAEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina are pleased to learn that Phillip Jeryl Lemmon will be honored by family and friends on February 6, 2011, for his devoted ministry in music to St. Michael United Methodist Church; and

Whereas, born in Lake City on December 8, 1948, he is the son of Mable Gilliard and Pittman C. Lemmon, and he graduated from Claflin University in 1969 where he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity; and

Whereas, in 1971, he married his beloved Carolyn Gardner, and together they reared a fine son, Phillip Jeryl Lemmon, Jr.; and

Whereas, for ten years he has tirelessly used his musical ability not only to serve the spiritual needs of St. Michael United Methodist Church but also to minister to those in his community; and

Whereas, he is a member of Siloam Baptist Church where he serves as organist and the chair of the board of trustees, and he has served his community as a Little League coach, president of the Parent-Teacher Association, and a band-booster parent; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina are grateful for the melodic gifts that Phillip Jeryl Lemmon has faithfully employed for ten years to minister to the congregants of St. Michael United Methodist Church. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Phillip Jeryl Lemmon, Sr., of Williamsburg County, for ten years of dedicated service as minister of music at St. Michael United Methodist Church.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Phillip Jeryl Lemmon.
