A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO THANK DONNA GLENN TINSLEY HOLLEY OF COLUMBIA FOR HER SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, Mrs. Donna Glenn Tinsley Holley was born on September 30th in a year not so long ago in Columbia, to B. H. Glenn and Mary Elizabeth Martin Glenn of Columbia; and
Whereas, she began her career in public service by taking a position in the South Carolina Highway Department; and
Whereas, from 1973-1981, she worked at the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, first as Executive Secretary in the Division of Vital Records and then as the Administrative Assistant to the Commissioner; and
Whereas, from 1981-2007, Mrs. Tinsley Holley worked as Executive Secretary for the South Carolina House of Representatives Education and Public Works Committee; and
Whereas, upon her retirement, Donna continued to serve the Palmetto State in the Legislative Council and more recently as a legislative aide to the Honorable Harry L. Ott, Jr.; the Honorable Michael A. Anthony; the Honorable James M. Neal; and the Honorable Vida Osteen Miller; and
Whereas, on May 24, 1975, she married the love of her life Charles Allan Tinsley, who regrettably passed to his eternal rest on February 24, 2000; and
Whereas, on September 5, 2009, she married the second love of her life, Douglas Eugene Holley Sr. of Jackson, South Carolina, who is retired from the Westinghouse Savannah River Site and has built a second career in specialty home remodeling; and
Whereas, she has raised two beautiful daughters, Mrs. Claire Llewellyn Tinsley Ziegler and Mrs. Mary Louise Tinsley DeCrescenzio, both of Columbia; and
Whereas, she is a member in good standing of the Eleanor Laurens Pinckney Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and
Whereas, she remains an active member of Spring Valley Baptist Church and sings in the choir as well as several other liturgical music ensembles; and
Whereas, an ardent advocate for education, she was elected by the South Carolina General Assembly to the Winthrop University Board of Trustees; and
Whereas, she was awarded the State School Improvement Council Advocate of the Year Award for her service on the School Improvement Councils at Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary School, E. L. Wright Middle School, and Spring Valley High School; and
Whereas, grateful for her continuing contributions to the Palmetto State, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing Mrs. Donna Glenn Tinsley Holley. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, thank Mrs. Donna Glenn Tinsley Holley of Columbia for her dedicated service to the people of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Donna Glenn Tinsley Holley.
