A bill

TO AMEND SECTION 41-35-40(A), CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO WEEKLY UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS, SO AS TO MODIFY THE WEEKLY BENEFIT AMOUNT; AND TO REPEAL SECTION 41-35-50 RELATING TO MAXIMUM POTENTIAL ANNUAL EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1.Section 413540(A) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

Section 413540(A).   An insured worker's weekly benefit amount is fifty percent of his weekly average wage, as defined in Section 4127140, and the weekly benefit amount, if not a multiple of one dollar, must be computed to the next lower multiple of one dollar. However, no insured worker's weekly benefit amount may be less than fortytwo dollars nor greater than sixtysix and twothirds percent of the statewide average weekly wage most recently computed before the beginning of the individual's benefit year four hundred and one dollars.

SECTION 2.   Section 413550 of the 1976 Code is repealed.

SECTION 3. This act takes effect January 1, 2024.
