A senate RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE Broome high SCHOOL GIRLS strength TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the Broome High School girls strength team for winning the South Carolina Class 3A girls strength state championship at the 2024 Female State Strength Meet on November 9, 2024; and
Whereas, at the 2024 Female State Strength Meet at Blythewood High School, the thirty-two member Broome High School team scored 41 points, outscoring every other team in the State; and
Whereas, across the junior varsity and varsity divisions at the state championship, Broome High School produced seven state champions, sixteen athletes achieved all-state status, and six state records were broken; and
Whereas, Maggie Humphries, Natalie Ervin, Madison Watson, Kourtney Wofford, Zoey Cooksey, Tiarra Dimsdale, and Shamya Wilkins were state champions in their categories; and
Whereas, in the junior division, Breanna Daniels, Riley Carson, Alaina Yother, and Keely Brown achieved all-state status; and
Whereas, in the varsity division, Tiarra Dimsdale, Shamya Wilkins, and Emilee Wilkey became the new state record holders in their classes. Zaria Nash, Abby Genobles, Dakota Mitchell, Mahalia Williams, and Emilee Wilkey achieved all-state status; and
Whereas, the Broome High School girls strength team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Coach Chad Cooksey, Coach Liz Cooksey, and Coach Rebecca Cooper; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the Broome High School girls strength team has brought to its school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its talented athletes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Broome High School girls strength team, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the South Carolina Class 3A state championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Broome High School girls strength team, Coach Chad Cooksey, Coach Liz Cooksey, Coach Rebecca Cooper, and Principal Josh Fowler.
