A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE MR. ROBERT O. BROCK UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE OCONEE COUNTY BOARD OF VOTER REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS THIRTY-SIX AND ONE-HALF YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC SERVICE TO OCONEE COUNTY AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Robert Brock of the Oconee County Board of Voter Registration and Elections for his many accomplishments in service to Oconee County and the State, upon the occasion of his retirement in March of 2017; and
Whereas, Mr. Brock was recommended for appointment to the Oconee County Election Commission by the Honorable Senator Herbert D. Morgan in September of 1980 and appointed by the Honorable Governor Richard W. Riley in October of that year. He was recommended and appointed to the commission continuously for each term until 1998; and
Whereas, after the Voter Registration Board and the Oconee County Election Commission were combined into one agency in 1988, Mr. Brock served continuously on the combined Board of Voter Registration and Elections for Oconee County as the Board Chairman, providing vital knowledge, expertise, and leadership for the election process in Oconee County; and
Whereas, Mr. Brock is one of the two longest serving appointees to have served on a voter registration or election board in the history of the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, Mr. Brock's final recommendation by the Honorable Senator Thomas Alexander and final reappointment to the board by the Honorable Nikki Haley came in October of 2014; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are grateful for the enduring commitment that Mr. Robert Brock has shown in serving the State and the people of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. Robert O. Brock upon the occasion of his retirement from the Oconee County Board of Voter Registration and Elections, commend him for his distinguished public service to Oconee County and the State of South Carolina, and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Robert O. Brock.
