A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE CHIEF BRIAN HARVEY UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS FIRE CHIEF, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS FORTY-FIVE YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE ROEBUCK FIRE DISTRICT AND TO SPARTANBURG COUNTY, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Chief Harvey upon the occasion of his retirement from the Roebuck Fire District on April 1, 2022; and
Whereas, Chief Harvey began his career at the Roebuck Fire District on April 1, 1977, at eighteen years old. He became Volunteer Fire Chief on January 1, 1988. He became Fire Chief on July 3, 2000; and
Whereas, Chief Harvey was a power player for the development of fire service Auto-Aide relationships between the Roebuck fire department, the Croft fire department, and the Spartanburg fire department. His work greatly strengthened and improved fire service delivery to the citizens; and
Whereas, a civic leader, Chief Harvey has served with many community organizations, including serving as president and long-time member of the Spartanburg County Fire Chiefs Association, board chair of the South Carolina Firefighters Insurance Services Board, and committee chair of the Roebuck Fire and Croft Fire Consolidation; and
Whereas, over the years, Chief Harvey has received a number of honors and awards, including the Hans T. Walker award; and
Whereas, Chief Harvey was instrumental in leading the efforts to consolidate the Roebuck and Croft fire districts. His conversations on the fire station floor and in the community starting in 2020 led to the recent full consolidation of the districts; and
Whereas, Chief Harvey is married to Jan, and together, they have three children, Chris, Casey, Nicole, and one stepson, Chad; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the passion and dedication that Chief Harvey has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Chief Brian Harvey upon the occasion of his retirement as Fire Chief of the Roebuck Fire District, commend him for his forty-five years of dedicated service to the Roebuck Fire District and to Spartanburg County, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Brian Harvey.
