Summary

As enacted, revises certain requirements which a person must meet in order to qualify for election or appointment to the office of sheriff; revises law regarding verification of POST certification of any person seeking the office of sheriff; and removes certain provisions regarding when a person runs for sheriff or is elected as sheriff and does not possess a current and valid peace officer certification. - Amends TCA Title 8, Chapter 8, Part 1 and Title 38, Chapter 8, Part 1.
