relating to a prohibition on receipt of state money by businesses | ||
that implement COVID-19 vaccination requirements. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 161, Health and Safety | ||
Code, is amended by adding Section 161.0086 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 161.0086. PROHIBITED RECEIPT OF STATE MONEY BY CERTAIN | ||
BUSINESSES. (a) In this section, "COVID-19" means the 2019 novel | ||
coronavirus disease. | ||
(b) A business in this state that requires the business's | ||
customers, employees, vendors, or contractors to be vaccinated | ||
against COVID-19 is not eligible to receive state grant money or | ||
enter into a contract payable with state money. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 161.0086, Health and Safety Code, as | ||
added by this Act, applies only to a state grant awarded to or a | ||
contract entered into by a business in this state on or after the | ||
effective date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
