A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the approval of law enforcement training materials by
  the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter D, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is
  amended by adding Section 1701.1525 to read as follows:
         Sec. 1701.1525.  REVIEW OF TRAINING MATERIALS. The
  commission shall establish procedures for the review and approval
  of course materials or training manuals for use by a school or an
  education and training program or course provider. 
         SECTION 2.  Subchapter F, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is
  amended by adding Section 1701.261 to read as follows:
         Sec. 1701.261.  TRAINING MATERIAL APPROVAL REQUIRED. A
  school or a provider of education and training programs or courses
  under this chapter, including a continuing education program, may
  only use course materials or training manuals that have been
  approved by the commission for use in the program or course.
         SECTION 3.  Not later than December 1, 2015, the Texas
  Commission on Law Enforcement shall adopt procedures to comply with
  Section 1701.1525, Occupations Code, as added by this Act.
         SECTION 4.  (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b) of this
  section, this Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
         (b)  Section 1701.261, Occupations Code, as added by this
  Act, takes effect January 1, 2016.
