relating to the approval of law enforcement training materials by | ||
the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 1701.1525 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 1701.1525. REVIEW OF TRAINING MATERIALS. The | ||
commission shall establish procedures for the review and approval | ||
of course materials or training manuals for use by a school or an | ||
education and training program or course provider. | ||
SECTION 2. Subchapter F, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 1701.261 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 1701.261. TRAINING MATERIAL APPROVAL REQUIRED. A | ||
school or a provider of education and training programs or courses | ||
under this chapter, including a continuing education program, may | ||
only use course materials or training manuals that have been | ||
approved by the commission for use in the program or course. | ||
SECTION 3. Not later than December 1, 2015, the Texas | ||
Commission on Law Enforcement shall adopt procedures to comply with | ||
Section 1701.1525, Occupations Code, as added by this Act. | ||
SECTION 4. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b) of this | ||
section, this Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
(b) Section 1701.261, Occupations Code, as added by this | ||
Act, takes effect January 1, 2016. |
