| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 250, Transportation Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Section 250.003 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 250.003. MAINTENANCE OF CERTAIN ROADS. The department | ||
| shall ensure that a route in the state highway system, including | ||
| Farm-to-Market Road 1021, between Eagle Pass and Laredo is | ||
| sufficiently maintained to allow for economic development and the | ||
| provision of border security along the route. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
