relating to the hours for the sale and consumption of alcoholic | ||
beverages at certain licensed or permitted premises during special | ||
events. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Chapter 105, Alcoholic Beverage Code, is amended | ||
by adding Section 105.11 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 105.11. HOURS OF SALE AND CONSUMPTION: HOTEL BARS | ||
DURING SPECIAL EVENTS. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of | ||
this code, the commission, on the request of the chief executive | ||
officer of a municipality, may extend the hours during which | ||
alcoholic beverages may be sold and consumed in a licensed or | ||
permitted premises located in a hotel in the municipality during a | ||
special event that is being held in or near the municipality. | ||
(b) The commission may extend the hours for the sale and | ||
consumption of alcoholic beverages under this section for a period | ||
not to exceed 72 consecutive hours. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
