| relating to the issuance of a safety belt exemption placard. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter I, Chapter 545, Transportation Code, | ||
| is amended by adding Section 545.4131 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 545.4131. SAFETY BELT EXEMPTION PLACARD. (a) The Texas | ||
| Department of Motor Vehicles shall provide for the issuance of a | ||
| safety belt exemption placard to a person who should not wear a | ||
| safety belt for a medical reason. | ||
| (b) A safety belt exemption placard must be two-sided and | ||
| hooked. | ||
| (c) The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles shall adopt | ||
| rules: | ||
| (1) regarding the design and content of the safety | ||
| belt exemption placard; | ||
| (2) designating acceptable evidence that an applicant | ||
| for a safety belt exemption placard has a medical reason for not | ||
| wearing a safety belt; and | ||
| (3) regarding the issuance and expiration of the | ||
| safety belt exemption placard. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
