relating to requests for a list of annual vote-by-mail voters. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 86.014, Election Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsections (c) and (d) to read as follows: | ||
(c) The early voting clerk shall, on written request, | ||
provide a list of all voters: | ||
(1) whom the early voting clerk provided with a ballot | ||
to be voted by mail in the most recent election; and | ||
(2) to whom the early voting clerk is required, as of | ||
the date of the request, to send a ballot to be voted by mail in the | ||
next election because those voters are eligible to receive mail | ||
ballots for more than one election under Section 86.0015. | ||
(d) With respect to a particular election, a person may make | ||
a request under Subsection (c): | ||
(1) not earlier than the date the final canvass of the | ||
general election is completed, or if there is a runoff in the | ||
election, the date the final canvass of the runoff election is | ||
completed; and | ||
(2) not later than the 60th day before the next | ||
election occurring in the territory served by the early voting | ||
clerk. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
