relating to ballot language requirements for a proposition | ||
proposing a constitutional amendment. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 274.001(b), Election Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
(b) The proposition, whether prescribed by the legislature | ||
or the secretary of state, must describe the proposed amendment in | ||
plain language and [ |
||
(1) approving the proposition; | ||
(2) failing to approve the proposition; or | ||
(3) both approving the proposition and failing to | ||
approve the proposition [ |
||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
to an election ordered on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
An election ordered before the effective date of this Act is | ||
governed by the law in effect when the election is ordered, and the | ||
former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2022. |
