A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the authority of the board of trustees of a school
district to enter into a contract or agreement with a public or
private entity for the use of facilities for district events.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 11, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 11.187 to read as follows:
Sec. 11.187. USE OF FACILITIES OWNED BY OTHER ENTITIES FOR
DISTRICT EVENTS. The board of trustees of a school district may
enter into a contract or other agreement with a public or private
entity for the use of any facility owned by the entity, including a
church or other religious facility, that the board determines is
the most appropriate method to meet the district's needs for a
graduation ceremony or other event sponsored or sanctioned by the
school district.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
