relating to exempting certain persons from a fee for replacement | ||
registration insignia and license plates. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 502.060(b), Transportation Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(b) No fee is required under this section if: | ||
(1) the replacement fee for a license plate has been | ||
paid under Section 504.007; or | ||
(2) a county assessor-collector determines that the | ||
owner of a registered motor vehicle did not receive a registration | ||
insignia that was issued to the owner by mail. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 504.007, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows: | ||
(g) No fee is required under this section if a county | ||
assessor-collector determines that the owner of a registered motor | ||
vehicle did not receive license plates that were issued to the owner | ||
by mail. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
