A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to requiring the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
  to provide to a school district certain information used in
  determining academic accountability ratings for the district.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 39, Education Code, is
  amended by adding Section 39.059 to read as follows:
         Sec. 39.059.  DATA TRANSPARENCY. (a)  In this section:
               (1)  "Coordinating board" means the Texas Higher
  Education Coordinating Board.
               (2)  "Institution of higher education" has the meaning
  assigned by Section 61.003.
         (b)  Before the initial release of academic accountability
  ratings for a school year, the coordinating board shall provide to
  each school district a copy of all source data as submitted to the
  coordinating board by an institution of higher education that the
  coordinating board provides to the agency to consider in:
               (1)  determining the district's accreditation status
  under Section 39.052; or
               (2)  assigning performance ratings for the district or
  the district's campuses under Section 39.054.
         SECTION 2.  This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020
  school year.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
