A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to an exemption for attorneys from athlete agent
  registration.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 2051.101, Occupations Code, is amended
  by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (b-1) to read as
  follows:
         (a)  Except as provided by Subsection (b) or (b-1), an
  individual may not act as an athlete agent in this state or
  represent that the individual is an athlete agent in this state
  unless the individual holds a certificate of registration under
  this chapter as:
               (1)  a professional athlete agent; or
               (2)  a limited athlete agent.
         (b-1)  An attorney licensed in this state is not required to
  hold a certificate of registration under this chapter to act as an
  athlete agent. A licensed attorney who acts as an athlete agent in
  this state is considered to be registered under this chapter and
  must comply with and is subject to all other provisions of this
  chapter.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
