BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 33.051(b), Election Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
(b) The officer presented with a watcher's certificate of | ||
appointment shall require the watcher to countersign the | ||
certificate and to present a form of photo identification described | ||
by Section 63.0101 to ensure that the watcher is the same person who | ||
signed the certificate. Except as provided by Subsection (c), a | ||
watcher who presents himself or herself at the proper time with a | ||
certificate of appointment and appropriate identification shall be | ||
accepted for service unless the person is ineligible to serve or the | ||
number of appointees to which the appointing authority is entitled | ||
have already been accepted. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
