A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the repair or replacement of certain damaged historical
  markers by the Texas Historical Commission.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  From money appropriated to the Texas Historical
  Commission or made available from any other source for the state
  fiscal biennium ending August 31, 2023, the commission shall spend
  at least $50,000 each state fiscal year to repair or replace damaged
  historical markers and monuments placed at locations throughout
  this state in celebration of the 1936 Texas Centennial. The
  commission shall repair damaged markers using materials and styles
  that closely replicate the original materials and styles. For
  markers that must be completely reconstructed, the commission shall
  comply with the United States Department of the Interior standards
  for sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
