relating to reporting requirements regarding certain data related | ||
to students at two-year public institutions of higher education. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 130.0035(b), Education Code, is amended | ||
to read as follows: | ||
(b) The report must include the following information for | ||
the junior college district for the academic year covered by the | ||
report: | ||
(1) the rate at which students completed courses | ||
attempted; | ||
(2) the number and types of degrees and certificates | ||
awarded; | ||
(3) the percentage of graduates who passed licensing | ||
exams related to the degree or certificate awarded, to the extent | ||
the information can be determined; | ||
(4) the number of students or graduates who transfer | ||
to or are admitted to a public university; | ||
(5) the passing rates for students required to be | ||
tested under Section 51.306; | ||
(6) the percentage of students enrolled who are | ||
academically disadvantaged; | ||
(7) the percentage of students enrolled who are | ||
economically disadvantaged; | ||
(8) the racial and ethnic composition of the | ||
district's student body; [ |

(9) the percentage of student contact hours taught by | ||
full-time faculty; and | ||
(10) the information regarding the district's students | ||
reported by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in the | ||
board's most recent report under Section 2308A.009(c), Government | ||
Code. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 2308A.009, Government Code, is amended | ||
by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
(c) Using existing resources and not later than April of | ||
each year, the coordinating board shall gather, collate, maintain | ||
in a manner that allows for public inspection, and report to the | ||
legislature and statewide officeholders the following information | ||
regarding students who attended two-year institutions of higher | ||
education during the preceding academic year, disaggregated by | ||
institution: | ||
(1) the percentage of students who graduated from the | ||
institution in that academic year or who otherwise left the | ||
institution during or after that academic year, who are determined | ||
by the coordinating board to be working in this state; | ||
(2) the average first-year wage of students who | ||
graduated from the institution in that academic year as calculated | ||
using data available through the commission's unemployment | ||
insurance wage records information; and | ||
(3) the percentage of students who graduated from the | ||
institution in that academic year or who otherwise left the | ||
institution during or after that academic year who are enrolled in | ||
another institution of higher education. | ||
SECTION 3. Not later than April 1, 2024, the Texas Higher | ||
Education Coordinating Board shall submit its initial report | ||
required under Section 2308A.009(c), Government Code, as added by | ||
this Act. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
