A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to a requirement that certain persons convicted of the
  offense of using a wireless communications device while operating a
  motor vehicle, motorcycle, or moped be allowed to perform community
  service.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 545.424, Transportation Code, is amended
  by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
         (g)  A court, if the court is located in a municipality or
  county that has established a community service program, shall
  allow a person who commits an offense under Subsection (a) or (b) to
  discharge all or part of the fine or costs associated with the
  offense by performing community service in the manner provided by
  Article 45.0492, Code of Criminal Procedure, as added by Chapters
  227 (H.B. 350) and 777 (H.B. 1964), Acts of the 82nd Legislature,
  Regular Session, 2011, regardless of the age of the person at the
  time of the commission of the offense.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
