relating to a requirement that certain persons convicted of the | ||
offense of using a wireless communications device while operating a | ||
motor vehicle, motorcycle, or moped be allowed to perform community | ||
service. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 545.424, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows: | ||
(g) A court, if the court is located in a municipality or | ||
county that has established a community service program, shall | ||
allow a person who commits an offense under Subsection (a) or (b) to | ||
discharge all or part of the fine or costs associated with the | ||
offense by performing community service in the manner provided by | ||
Article 45.0492, Code of Criminal Procedure, as added by Chapters | ||
227 (H.B. 350) and 777 (H.B. 1964), Acts of the 82nd Legislature, | ||
Regular Session, 2011, regardless of the age of the person at the | ||
time of the commission of the offense. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
